Industrial belts served: Andheri MIDC · Marol · Chandivali · Bhandup · Mulund · Wadala · Mahul · Sewri · Trombay
Mumbai is the hardest corrosion environment in our delivery radius and the easiest one to under-specify. A tray package priced on an inland benchmark will look competitive and then fail early at the cut edges.
The city's cable tray demand now splits between two very different buyers: the data centre and commercial fit-out market around Powai, BKC and Lower Parel, where appearance and segregation matter, and the refinery and port infrastructure at Mahul, Trombay and Sewri, where the specification is written around corrosion and load class.
Mitool Equipments Pvt. Ltd. manufactures cable management systems at MIDC Additional Ambernath in Thane district and supplies them throughout Mumbai. We quote against your cable schedule and tray layout rather than a generic size list — send the drawing with the finish required and the quotation comes back with tray sizes, bends, reducers, coupler plates and supports listed line by line, with a dispatch date.
Perforated base for ventilation and cable fixing. Carries the control, instrumentation and lighter power cabling on most Mumbai installations.
Rail-and-rung construction built for weight and span. The choice wherever a perforated section would need supports too close together.
Adjustable bolted rungs for installations where the cable layout is still moving or where maintenance access matters.
Stainless tray in SS304 and SS316 for classified, washdown and chemically exposed areas where galvanizing will not last.
Supports and brackets that carry the run off a wall or structure, supplied in the same material and finish as the tray.
Matching accessories throughout — bends, risers, reducers, tee and cross sections, coupler plates and clamps.
A starting point for tray selection by application. Final selection follows your cable schedule, fill ratio and support spacing.
| Sector and belt | Typical tray | Usual finish |
|---|---|---|
| Data centres Powai, Chandivali, Bhandup, Mahape corridor | Perforated tray on segregated tiers, power and structured cabling separated | Hot dip galvanized; SS316 where marine air is drawn in |
| Refinery and petrochemical Mahul, Trombay, Chembur | Ladder tray for main power runs, perforated for instrumentation | SS316 in process areas, hot dip galvanized elsewhere |
| Port and container handling Mumbai Port, Sewri, Wadala | Ladder tray on long outdoor spans and quay structures | Hot dip galvanized minimum; SS316 quayside |
| Pharmaceutical Andheri MIDC, Vikhroli, Bhandup | Perforated or ladder tray in stainless for classified areas | SS304 standard; SS316 near the shore |
| Commercial towers and hotels BKC, Lower Parel, Nariman Point | Light and medium duty perforated tray in shafts and service corridors | Pre-galvanized or powder coated over galvanized base |
| Metro rail and infrastructure across Mumbai | Ladder and perforated tray in tunnels, stations and depots | Hot dip galvanized; fire performance per project spec |
Mumbai is a coastal environment. Airborne chloride is the governing factor here, not rainfall, and it changes the finish decision completely compared with an inland site.
Where the boundaries fall is a Mumbai-specific judgement rather than a general rule. Distance from the water is the variable that matters most, and it changes fast — a plant two kilometres inland can often drop a grade against one on the shoreline. Across a site at Andheri MIDC, Marol or Trombay that usually means the tray schedule is split into two or three finish bands rather than quoted at a single grade, and the saving on the lower band normally pays for the upgrade on the higher one.
Pre-galvanized sheet to IS 277 is generally not enough on its own near the shore. It is acceptable only for runs well inside a sealed, air-conditioned building, and even then the cut edges are the first thing to go.
Hot dip galvanizing to IS 2629 and IS 4759 is the sensible baseline for Mumbai. Applied after fabrication, it puts a heavier and more uniform zinc layer over welds and cut edges, which is exactly where chloride attack starts.
On Mumbai projects specifically, the runs that get under-specified are almost always the semi-outdoor ones — covered walkways, plant rooms with louvres, loading aprons. They read as indoor on the drawing and behave as outdoor in practice. It is worth walking the route on the drawing zone by zone before the order goes in — on a data centrespowai, chandivali, bhandup, mahape corridor job around Andheri MIDC or Marol, that exercise usually changes two or three line items and costs nothing at enquiry stage.
Powder coating should never be applied over bare steel in Mumbai. Once moisture gets behind the film at a scratch, corrosion spreads under the coating unseen. Over a galvanized base it is fine, and it is the usual choice for exposed runs in commercial interiors.

Three things belong on the enquiry and are easy to leave off. The standard — normally IS 14927 Part 2, or IEC 61537 where the project is written to international documents. The load class, which fixes what the tray can carry. And the support spacing on the drawing, which has to be consistent with that load class. Galvanizing follows IS 277 for pre-galvanized sheet or IS 2629 and IS 4759 for hot dip. Give us those and the quotation and documentation will match the drawing.
Our works at MIDC Additional Ambernath is about 60 km from Mumbai. Deliveries run to Andheri MIDC, Marol, Chandivali, Bhandup, Mulund, Wadala, Mahul, Sewri, Trombay. Trays are bundled and strapped for site handling, and accessories can be packed separately by zone where a project is erected in phases. For larger site packages we can stage dispatch against your erection schedule rather than delivering the full quantity at once.
Share the tray layout or bill of quantities with sizes, finish and accessories. You get back a line-by-line quotation with dispatch timing.
Request a Quotation Call +91-251-2621925Yes. Our works is at MIDC Additional Ambernath, Thane, about 60 km from Mumbai, and we dispatch to all its industrial belts including Andheri MIDC, Marol, Chandivali, Bhandup, Mulund. Trays are supplied in standard 2500 mm and 3000 mm lengths, bundled and strapped for site handling.
Hot dip galvanized to IS 2629 is the practical baseline for Mumbai because the coating covers welds and cut edges, which is where chloride attack begins. Close to the water, or in plants drawing marine air through ventilation, SS316 is the right specification rather than SS304. Pre-galvanized tray should be restricted to sealed indoor runs.
Usually not within the salt-spray band. SS304 handles washdown and cleaning chemistry well but pits under chloride exposure. SS316 contains molybdenum, which is what resists chloride pitting, so it is the grade to specify for genuinely coastal installations.
Lead time follows quantity, finish and whether accessories are included. Hot dip galvanizing adds processing time over pre-galvanized material, and stainless steel is made to order. Send the bill of quantities with the finish required and a dispatch date comes back with the quotation.
IS 14927 Part 1 covers general requirements and Part 2 covers cable trays, including load class and span. Confirm the standard, load class and support spacing your consultant has specified and we will quote and document against it.
From 50 mm to 1200 mm wide, 15 mm to 150 mm side rail height and 1.2 mm to 3 mm thick, in 2500 mm and 3000 mm standard lengths, in light, medium and heavy duty. Supports go up to 2000 mm. Anything outside that range is made to order.
